Can you get me a cup of coffee???

Have you seen the movie Six Days Seven Nights?  In one of my favorite scenes, Anne Heche falls out of the airplane after crash landing and mutters "Can you get me a cup of coffee???" She's only half awake really and has no idea where she is in that moment.  Harrison Ford snarkily replies "Oh sure, I'll get right on it ma'am".

That part always makes me laugh and I've loved that movie since it came out in 1998.  Well, that scene was playing through my head all yesterday as exhaustion took over.  My constant response to yesterday was coffee.  Needless to say, I was beat from my half marathon last Sunday.  It was a happy exhaustion, but persistent nevertheless.

So my plans for this week are...

Rest, rest, and more rest.  I do not plan on running at all.  Not even cross training.  I'm totally letting my body rest.  The only thing I will be doing is taking Jax on his morning walks and probably some night ones as well because I know it's good for me to move a bit and loosen up my leg muscles.

Last night after work was a night full of resting.  I made those black bean quesadillas for dinner.  My hubby and I (and Jax) watched some TV and before you know it I was sleeping... Do any of you watch The Following?  It's gruesome, but enticing.  And who doesn't like Bacon? I'm talking about the man here ;)

Take my vitamin.  I ordered this vitamin online after reading reviews of other vegans who used them.  I'm still on the fence when it comes to vitamins because I really do try to eat a varied diet, but I'm giving these a try.  I do not take a vitamin everyday, more every other to every third day.  They are a bright green!  Do you take vitamins daily?  Have you ever tried this brand of vitamins?

Snack on these PureFit bars.  I ordered them from Vegan Cuts.  There was a sample pack on sale last week.  I love that they are gluten free, vegan, made with ingredients I recognize as ok, and tasty!  I generally try to make a lot of stuff homemade and stay clear of too much processed food, but these are fun especially for the week after a race!

And lastly...

I'm going to let the excitement build as I rest for that marathon training plan coming up (tomorrow's post I'll share about that!)

What are a few things you plan to do this week?

  1. I have vitamins that I take when I remember, usually once or twice a week. Glad you and Jax are still enjoying your morning walks!

  2. I love the following! I didn't start watching until a month or so ago, so I had to power through all of the episodes on Hulu.

I've been such a slacker this week! I would say I'm going to clean my house and create some tasty noms, but really... I already have plans to go out of town on Wednesday and then a hockey game on Saturday... oops! Extra Productive next week :)

  3. Em - as a med student and fellow food/running freak, I strongly urge you to take a women's multi-vitamin DAILY. Especially at a reproductive age. There are so many things that can be prevented in a woman's life and her curent or future pregnancy with a basic multi-vitamin. Strict vegans, as I'm sure you are already aware, actually REQUIRE vit. B12 supplementation because B12 can only be obtained through animal products. If your physician has not begun this conversation with you, I urge you to discuss it. If not, feel free to shoot me an email!
