Hey there!
It been a while! Life got busy in the beginning of the week and then our Wifi stopped working so I took a break from blogging. Here are some updates from my week =)
My husband surprised me last week with these fantastic New Balance (with Vibram soles) sneaks! He picks out the best sneakers. I bought my first pair of minimalist sneakers (below) over two years ago and I have worn them out. Time to throw them into the sneakers-for-mowing the lawn pile!
But look at these new minimalist sneakers! I'm in love with the colors. I love minimalists for walking the dogs and these ones are crazy comfortable. I haven't done much running in minimalists as I generally like a little more padding on my feet when running, but I think I'm going to give these a try for some shorter runs. Something about feeling the ground beneath me a little bit more while running is fun at times.
I highly recommend these sneaks if you're in the market! My husband told me he ordered them off www.zappos.com if you're into online sneaker shopping. Now that I know what size/kind of sneaker works for me, I order all my sneakers off the internet. It's so exciting having them show up at your door step!
Ok, my other news is that I ran a 3.5 mile race on Tuesday night. It was the Corporate Challenge in my area and 7,600 people participated which I think is definitely the largest race I've participated in. I didn't have any expectations going into it because running at 6:30pm at night is generally not my thing and I wasn't sure how I would be feeling after a day of work, but...
Finish in 26:42
Pace 7:38 min/Mile
I rocked it! For me anyways I ran really fast. It was an interesting feeling knowing that in 3.5 miles it would be over because I'm used to doing races a bit longer. My time was much faster than I have run in the past so I was really happy. It motivated me to start having thoughts like "how much faster could I go if I really really really gave it my all?"
Oh, one other thing. Check out this new lip balm that arrived in my Vegan Cuts Snack Box. Glorious.
I hope you are having a great week!
Tell me:
Do you like minimalist sneakers?
Do you find you race much faster in shorter races?
Ill take 10 of those lip balms please! Great job on your race :)
ReplyDeleteNice job on your race! Peanut butter lip balm? How do you keep yourself from eating it, that sounds amazing.
ReplyDeleteI used to run in some nike minimalist kicks but I got horrible shin splints. Perhaps the technology is better now. Maybe my form as even improved so they might work better. I do want to try them out.
ReplyDeleteI usually do the corperate challenge every year but I opted out this year. There is such a competitive atmosphere at my work. last year I did it in 27:29 which is actually slower than my 5K PR at the END of a triathlon. I'm just not good at going from 0-60 if you know what I mean.
PB lip balm?!? AND its vegan? Now that is totally awesome :).
ReplyDeleteOh I SO need to find a new pair of kicks like yesterday!! Those are super cute, but most of the time I can't do a minimalist shoe because I need a whole lot of ankle support.
ReplyDeleteI have gotta get my hands on some of that pb lip balm!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE minimalist sneakers! I just got a pair of sacony kinvaras about a month ago or so, and I'm obsessed. I love yours! Those are some awesome kicks :)
