Sweaty Run, Tea, and the Pups

Hey hey!

How was your Monday?

I stayed up too late Sunday night so come Monday morning I was a bit tired.  I think it was definitely 1 o'clock before I fell asleep.  I've become a bit hooked on this show Ready For Love - initially because Giuliana and Bill host it (and I think they are super awesome) and secondly, I'm just a romantic who got sucked in.  So ok I watched too much of that and then an Ellen DeGeneres act that was hilarious... Sometimes it's hard to get back into the work mode of sleeping on Sunday night.

Anyways, on the way to work yesterday (keep in mind I've made this drive at least 250 times), I turned down a road too early which happened to be a one-way road and yes, I was going the wrong way.  It wasn't dangerous or anything, but a few cars had to stop to let me U-turn my way in the right direction.  SO that got my Monday morning going.

I had a mug of Yerba Mate tea with an apple as a snack in the morning.  I haven't had Yerba Mate in a while and I forgot how tasty it is.  Have you had it?  I'm sure this is all a matter of opinion, but I've heard it's good for you - please do correct me if I've wrong.  Lunch was of course a sprouted wheat bagel with hummus and sprouts (because I planned in advance this week!)

Aside from not getting enough sleep Sunday night, I also went on a hot hot hot run earlier in the evening.  It was 85 + degrees out and I generally stay away from that kind of heat, but I took off right after the thunderstorm finished so things were a touch cooler.  I had hydrated a good amount throughout the morning and had a bunch of watermelon.  I took things at a slower pace for me too.  I decided not to run the 12 miles I had planned, but ended up doing a nice 7.4 mile run.  My training plans calls for 7 miles next weekend so with a quick flip flop, I'm planning for that 12 later this week instead (like before I leave for NYC on Friday!)

Here's the second half of my 7.4 mile run...

I drank at least 16 ounces of water while running and took in one gel (that was oh so warm from the heat).  If I were to have gone any farther I would have needed some more fuelI have never been so sweaty from a run, ever.  It was awesome

There were a few moments where I thought it might have started raining again, but wasn't sure because I was that sweaty.  Now I know that sounds YUCK but really it just made me feel hardcore.

My husband took Jax to the vet yesterday for normal checkup and of course Lincoln joined because they are buds now.  Maybe not in the sense that they are inseparable and openly love each other, but more so in that they get each other.  Just brothers =)

What time do you go to sleep at night?  How do you feel about working out in the heat?

  2. Yikes! You need some sleeeeeep. I have a Christmas tree timer that turns my lights out at 10:30 pm, so it's bedtime whether I'm ready or not :)
