Breaking Bad, Chilly Morning, and a Fall Dress

Hi Guys!

Last night my husband and I watched the latest episode of Breaking Bad.  If you don’t watch then you won’t understand why I’m feeling so heartbroken after watching this episode.  It was just such a mess of emotions, but yet at the same time definitely the best episode of the series.  Everything culminated into a glorious disaster and I find myself so sad for the characters.  Isn’t it just bizarre how a TV show can suck you in like that?  Don’t worry, I’ll get over it quickly, but right now it’s so fresh in my mind.  Did you watch it?  Are you a fan?

Moving onto the next topic.  I’m wearing my I-love-autumn-dress to work today and loving it.  I bought this dress from Loft last year and it’s honestly one of my favorite pieces of clothing I own.  I can’t wear it too often because it’s definitely memorable, but it is comfortable, pretty, and I love all the colors!  And really the work day is just better when you like your outfit ;)

Did I mention I’m still reeling from that Breaking Bad episode?  Anyways, I got in a nice walk/run with the pups this morning.  It was 37 degrees out!  I actually wore gloves and the cool air felt fantastic.  I have officially settled on the fact that I will not be running the marathon this weekend.  It’s sad for me because of the months of training and the excitement that has been building since May to achieve this goal.  But there will be other races.  Maybe even a marathon, half marathon, or 15K in October.  This one just wasn’t meant to be.  I acquired more IT band exercises at PT yesterday which is great though and I’ve become a pro at foam rolling.  I’m still waiting for my Tracy Anderson workout video to come in the mail and as it soon as it does, let that challenge begin.  I want to get stronger and leaner!

This morning as I was out with the pups I was thinking about how taking pleasure from the little things each day is really important.  For example, I would have loved (x million) to go on a glorious run this morning, but instead I went on a fantastic walk with my dogs (who were so happy and excited).  That is something to be grateful for.  Also, I made myself a huge latte to drink as I go to work on this chilly morning.  Another simple pleasure.

I want to make gluten-free vegan cupcakes soon!  I’ve made boatloads of vegan cupcakes, but now I want to perfect a gluten-free one as well.  I have family members who follow a gluten-free diet and if I can just pull off a vegan/gluten-free cupcake (decorated Halloween like) that will be awesome.

If you are a Breaking Bad fan, how are you feeling after the last episode?  What’s something you look forward to each morning?

  1. My morning tea and blog reading always starts my day off on the right note. You have the best attitude about your IT band. I've been pretty bummed lately about my running troubles so hearing you stay so positive makes me feel better.

Yes to those GF and vegan cupcakes!!! Also I LOVE your dress :)

  3. I must be the only person who doesn't watch BB...one of these days I'll have to pick it up. I'm sorry you're not running the marathon, but it sounds like it was the right decision. There will always be other races...it's time to give your legs a little rest right now.

What a glorious (and chilly!) walk with your pups this AM :). Such a beautiful life!

  4. Nope, fitfunfemme - make that the two of us! I don't watch it, either.

Emily, I am both sad and glad to hear that you're pulling the marathon plug for the moment. It's tough to work so hard for something for so long - then have to walk away. But what you are doing is so incredibly smart, and your attitude about it is so positive (at least, on here - I suspect it probably hits a bit harder sometimes) - I wish I could transfer this combo to all the runners out there who make unwise decisions, and end up paying for them for months and years. Kudos to you. And here's to a kick-tush race later this fall!!

    1. Thanks so much Holly! Definitely a tough decision, but I absolute just want to get back to being injury free and I'll do whatever that takes (lots of foam rolling, strengthening, and elliptical!) Thanks again for all your advice :)
