Pregnancy Journey - 19 Weeks (and gender announcement!)

Howdy!

Hello 19 weeks!

I came down with (another) head cold yesterday.  I'm not even going to waste time complaining about it because we all know colds suck.  This could be a combination of allergies, sinus issues, who knows... I slept sitting up last night and did get some sleep, but was up every few hours.  I'm still able to function just fine at work though and actually being up and about makes me feel better rather than just lying around.  I started the day with Miso soup broth this morning.  I think I will continue to do that all week.  My stomach felt really good after having it too.

Last Friday was a really tough day.  We had to say goodbye to my family dog, Mackenzie, who we've had since I was in 9th grade.  She was my first dog and so very special.  She will always be in my heart.  I'm grateful for all the happy memories I have of her and all the joy she brought to my family over the years.  She will always be missed.  I know she's in a better place watching over us now.

On a happier note, I cooked like crazy last weekend.  I made a vegan Alfredo sauce (cashews, lemon juice, garlic, nutmeg, pepper and water!), butternut bisque, broccoli and tofu udon noodle stir fry...  Therefore, that means lots of great leftovers for lunches this week.

Homemade Peanut Butter Cup, udon noodle/broccoli/tofu stir fry, fruit wonderfulness from my hubby, butternut squash soup, vegan Alfredo over whole wheat penne, and THAT AMAZING GREEN SOUP - pesto soup with green, beans, and gnocchi.  My husband and I ate it all up on Saturday.

I'm in love with this cookbook... Both of the soup recipes came from it as well as my favorite pancake recipe which I tend to make every weekend.

Total Weight Gain:  10 pounds as of my 19 week appointment!

My Body:  My bump is growing and I've noticed I've got some love handle action now.  It's an amazing thing what my body is doing to love and protect this little baby and really I'm so thankful for that.  I'm glad I'm at a very happy place with my body because it can be challenging watching yourself put on weight.  But I just constantly remind myself of this gift and all the weight I put on is for the beautiful baby growing inside me.

Maternity Clothes:  I wear my maternity pant leggings like everyday.  I have been loving my husband's sweaters the last two days.  They pair so nicely with a pair of leggings and heels for work.  I've just really wanted to be comfortable.

Cravings:  Carbs (hence my making a massive batch of vegan Alfredo sauce to pour over whole wheat noodles) and salads.   A crisp salad with lots of veggies just sounds fantastic.  I'm still loving my toast each morning as well.  We made quesadillas Monday night and they hit the spot.

Udon noodle stir fry - simple and delicious.  Never gets old.

Sleep:  I've been sleeping, but waking up sporadically trying to get comfortable.  I know I'm supposed to sleep on my side, but I still naturally role over on my back in the night.  I'll then wake up and role myself back over to my side.

Best Moment this week:  Going to our 19 week sonogram and finding out we are HAVING A BOY!!!  He was so stubborn at first and wouldn't let us see for a while what gender he was.  We were patient though and eventually we found out!  Such happiness.  Ironically, right as I was leaving work to go to the appointment, I imagined a little boy.  And that morning I had said to my dog, Jax, "what if there is another little boy in this house?"  I would have been happy either way, but I'm so excited about our little baby boy!

It was the absolute best thing getting to see our baby again up on the screen.  We hadn't done a sonogram since 7 weeks.  Seeing all the body parts and watching him move was so cute.  He's an active little guy already.   Look at those toes!

In doctor's office at our 19 week appointment!  Just found out we're having a boy!

Goals:  Walk more!  And then run!  I cannot let this weather keep me inside.  I've been taking walks around the office at work just to get up and moving once in a while.  I'm willing spring to come soon...

There you have it - 19 weeks and a baby boy!!!!  I love him so much already.

  4. Hooray! I am biased as I have a boy, but I like having a boy. Sure I miss not getting to dress in frilly outfits, but that's just fine!

  6. Yay, congrats on the boy!!!! I slept on my back a lot too, but I heard that you're fine (and thus, the baby too), and when it does get to a point where it's harmful to the baby, your body will naturally not want to lay that way anymore. I probably slept on my back up until mid-20's weeks pregnant and then when I would go to lay on my back, I would be uncomfortable and want to turn anyways!! Funny thing is, now I have Nia and I CAN sleep on my back, I don't do it much anymore haha...go figure!
