New Shake With Avocado, Coconut Water, and Cocoa Powder

Hi there!
As promised, I wanted to share a new favorite shake.  It’s from Gwyneth Paltrow’s cookbook, It’s All Good.  Therefore, this shake involves no creativity on my part.  I’m simply the messenger ;)
I had this shake three times this week and the second and third time was better because I let the blender sit on the “liquefy” mode a bit longer.  Tuesday, I had this shake after my 3.5 mile run and I felt great.  It only kept me full for about 2 hours, but that’s to be expected because I hadn’t eaten anything else prior.
I cut the recipe in half.  Therefore, I have half an avocado leftover which I’ve been eating as a snack later in the day on Ezekiel bread, Tofutti spread on each toasted slice, and then topped with the sliced avocado and sprinkled with pepper.  Again, I took this recipe from It’s All Good except the recipe called for vegenaise which I love as well, but didn't have at work.  I’m on a kick this week with this cookbook as you can probably tell.
Here’s the ingredients for the shake.  This makes 2 shakes.

I have been including the honey this week, but I think going forward I’ll use brown rice syrup instead.  Also, I have been adding 4 ice cubes to the mixture because I like my shakes cold.  I am not a fan of coconut water (trying to be), but it works great in this shake. My husband recommended adding some banana as well which I think sounds good.  I’ll try that soon.  Just put all the ingredients together and press start on that blender of yours.
Try it and let me know what you think!
Do you use avocados in your shakes?  If not, would you give it a try?

  1. I have used avocado in my smoothies a couple times, however I'd rather eat them in wraps or salads :)

  2. Her cookbook is sooooo good!! I love adding avos to my shakes. It makes them so thick. Eating my shakes with a spoon is my favourite :)

  3. It is such an inspiring cookbook. I think I might do her detox week next week. I was wondering if this was any good. I love avocado on toast but I can't imagine what it would taste like in a shake.
