Happy Second Anniversary!

Hello!

Today is our second wedding anniversary!

"Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
So take my hand, and take my whole life too
Cause I can't help falling in love with you"

This was our first dance song (Can't Help Falling In Love by Ingrid Michaelson) and those words certainly hold a special place in my heart.

Honeymoon Seattle/Vancouver August 2012

Anniversaries have a way of showing us how quickly time flies by.  Just 365 days ago was our first wedding anniversary.  It's been a big year.  I'd say it's been one of the greatest growing years of my life yet, mentally, emotionally, and physically with baby boy growing inside!

Last year I described our beautiful wedding day and this year I want to reflect on all we've been through together in the last year.  I've just focused on my pregnancy on the blog, but life was full of a lot of other stuff too.  We made big decisions.  Decisions about moving (not now), house decisions (surprise renovations), job changes, money decisions, and more.  Big life stuff that required a lot of thought and long talks.  And of course a whole lot of love.

And in the midst of all this, the biggest blessing of all happened.  We found out that right around our 2nd wedding anniversary we would be welcoming our baby boy into the world.  What a wonderful gift.  The most exciting gift of all!  I'm writing this now before we've met our baby boy.  We are beyond excited!  I will always remember this year because in this year we found out that we'd be having our baby boy.

The day I met my husband, I felt like I was meeting my best friend.  Like I'd gone a lifetime without knowing him and a part of me had been missing, and then there he was!  There is no one else I'd rather have by my side.  He's the first person I want to talk to in the morning and the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night.

I'm also extremely proud of my husband and I because in the last year we were faced with big life challenges.  And together, we faced them, and are stronger for it.  We're a team that I'm honored to be a part of.

I have no idea what the next year will bring.  I couldn't have planned the last year if I tried and I have no intention of planning out the next.  I certainly am looking forward to our wonderful journey together though!

I love you with all my heart, hubby.  This post is for you.

Love Is...

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I was thinking about what this day means to me.  I think it’s a great day just to appreciate the people we love and all those wonderful people that love us back.  So I want to send lots of love to my family and friends today, and of course to you as well, my readers.

I like this day because I’ll admit, I love hearts, flowers, pink and red dresses, and I’ve always been (and always will be) a romantic.

I had this Peanuts Comic book when I was little that I vaguely remember, but I know it talked about what love meant.  It was sayings like “Love is walking hand in hand” and each page had a picture of Charlie Brown and Snoopy or some of the other characters, and them demonstrating love.  Because after all, love is not just giving someone candy and flowers on this special day, it is so much more.

I thought it would nice to make a book like that one I had when I was little, but actually instead I’ll make it a list of things as they apply to my life.  I’m not trying to be too serious here, but just wanted to have a little fun.  My focus is just on life with my husband and pups.

Love is…

Being kissed and hugged by your husband and dogs as soon as you get home from work.

Sitting down to a home cooked meal with your husband after a long work day.

Getting jumped on every morning in bed around 6AM by your dog as soon as he hears you start to wake up.

Listening to your husband and dogs sleeping on a Saturday morning while you read in bed.

Getting a compliment that you look nice today even though you really didn’t think so.

Stopping at the grocery store on your way home from work when you’d really rather not.

Cleaning the house together because it really does feel so good when you’re done.

Letting your dogs shed all over your clean house.

Walking your dogs in frigid temperatures because you know it will make them so happy.

Your husband taking out the garbage each week.

Knowing that after 9PM your wife is bound to fall asleep on the couch.

Being there for each other on really tough days.

Laughing hysterically together.

Cooking together.

Running errands together.

Watching favorite TV shows together.

Supporting each others goals.

Sending little texts throughout the day making the work day so much better.

Saying I love you every day.

Brother love
I hope you have a lovely day!  I’m definitely making vegan peanut butter cupcakes either today or sometime over the weekend.  My husband and I really want to go to the new Cheesecake Factory restaurant that just opened up by us, but I’m guessing the crowds might be crazy.  We’ll see!

Tell me your “Love is…”

Spread the Joy and Weekend Sendoff

Happy Friday!

This week has just flown by.  Actually, the work weeks have just been flying by lately.  Every day I’ve been writing down my something I’m thankful for.  Even though I started doing this at the beginning of November with Thanksgiving in mind, it is definitely a practice I plan to continue throughout the year.  It makes me focus on the good in each day and I think that’s really important.

Here’s a picture from this morning.  I did not tell my dogs to sit like that, they just did it on their own and it made my heart melt.  Precious.  So that’s how I started my Friday.

I leave you with this…

I spread joy by sharing a positive attitude, a smile, openness, and appreciation for all of life’s blessings.  If others are pessimistic or glum, I do not take on their mood, but rather hold a positive thought for them, knowing “this too shall pass.” Instead of finding fault or complaint, I look for the best in each person.

Sending lots of happiness your way and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

It's my wonderful husband's birthday today!!!  Happy Birthday Kristian!  I hope you have the most fantastic birthday, you deserve it!

Monday and a birthday – that’s a great way to start the week!  I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.  I promise to have lots more to say as the week goes on, but this morning I’m having breakfast with my husband on his birthday!  YAY!

What did you do on your last birthday?
