May Running

I was thinking that it makes sense for me to breakdown my Marathon Training Plan by months.  It's kind of a lot to print out a 20 week training plan and look at it all at once.  It's much more manageable to look at the runs by the month and it helps me plan more efficiently.  I can look at a calendar and know what I'll be scheduling runs around.

Keep in mind that I do not plan on sticking to the days of planned running exactly.  Sometimes my long runs will happen on Saturdays, other times on Sundays, and sometimes probably even a Monday.  Having a three day/week training plan provides plenty of room for flexibility.  Furthermore, there are many days that I wake up with the drive to run and other days I'm exhausted and just want to make breakfast, walk Jax, and get to work.  You know how life goes!

So here is my plan for May.  Doesn't it look better this way rather than looking at 20 weeks all at once?

I look at this plan and think "Ok, that I can do."  So let the fun begin!

I'll leave you with this quote from Runner's World...

Remember the feeling you get from a good run is far better than the feeling you get from sitting around wishing you were running

How was your Monday?  What are your workout plans this week?

  2. Good luck with your training! I'm excited to hear all about it-- you've even motivated me to wake up early and go for quick 2 mile walks. I figured if you can do all you've been doing with the injury you had going on, I guess I can skip a little sleep :)

    2. They're going alright. The hardest part is getting myself out of bed, but once I'm outside it feels so nice. Perfect temperature in the morning.

  3. I love that quote! I always feel better once I get moving than if I skip a workout... Unless I'm really sick! Can't wait to hear how the training goes.

  4. Ooh how exciting! I agree that it's best to take things on a week, monthly basis as to not get too overwhelmed. Excited to track your progress! :-D

  6. Looks much better with just a month instead of 5 (ish)! I even broke mine down weekly for this month.

    Enjoy your training!
