Peppermint Tea and Highlights

Happy Monday to you.

I did not want to get out of bed this morning.  I generally get up around 6 o’clock, but this morning the bed was just so comfortable and it was nice and dark in the room.  I did crawl out of bed by 6:30AM and got going though...  I put on a fresh pot of rice that had been soaking from the night before, got some kukicha tea, and made lunches.  Once I got moving, it was easier.  Also, the walk with my pups always wakes me up.  While I was blow drying my hair, they sat outside the bathroom door, patiently encouraging me (starring me down) to hurry me up so they could get walking.  My highlights from the weekend include:

Peppermint tea at Barnes & Noble and magazine reading.  I need to get that tea for home.  There were all these ideas about making cookie jars as gifts in this one magazine.  You put all the ingredients in a glass jar and give that to people.  My only concern is that I don’t know if people would actually bake the cookies.  You know what I mean?  Like I would hate to put all the ingredients together and have them go to waste.  It sure does look so pretty in the jars though.

Going to our local dog park (for the first time) Sunday morning after we went to our local diner (for the first time) since moving to the new town last April.  Both the diner and the dog park were a success.  The dogs had a blast saying hi to the other pups and playing.

I finally bought maple sugar which is prepared from the sap of maple trees, and a much healthier sweetener that white sugar.  For every cup of white sugar you’d need in a recipe, you only need ½ cup of maple sugar.  So guess where that maple sugar went?  Into the homemade vegan peanut butter cups I made.  I will most certainly share the recipe soon because they are by far the best peanut butter cups you will ever have.

And lastly, a trip to the Outlet Mall.  We got to see family and I started Christmas shopping!  I also got a delicious salad for lunch with green apple, almonds, and cranberries.  I need to duplicate that for lunches.  Also there was a massive sale at the Ann Taylor Loft store – I got 65% off everything I bought!  I hadn’t done a big work clothes shopping trip since I started my job close to two years ago, so it was the perfect time to update.  It felt very special to put on a brand new outfit this morning – especially on a Monday when I didn’t want to get out of bed.

So those are my highlights.

How are you?  Tell me something about your weekend.

  2. I woke up in the middle of the night on Saturday convinced it was Christmas and I had forgotten to buy a single present. I was almost crying in the bathroom before I realized it's October...

Is that tea just a venti? It looks HUGE! (and I'm super jealous, it's freezing here!)

    1. It was so freezing out this morning and I definitely did not address appropriately when I walked this morning. YES that is a venti tea - I always get ventis since it's just water! You still have two months until Christmas - lots of shopping time :)
