Pregnancy Journey - 10 Weeks

I wrote this post on January 14, 2014 - 10 weeks

I’m getting so excited to share our baby news with family and friends, but I still want to wait another week or two.  My next appointment with my doctor is a week away and our plan is to share after that appointment.  My husband took a picture of my stomach this morning and I think I look different (probably just crazy bloated), but I don’t think anyone else could tell yet.  I’m not sure if I've put on any weight – maybe a tiny bit – but I really think it’s is because I’m so bloated.  I know that’s a beautiful thing to talk about, but I’m learning it’s a very common symptom at the beginning of pregnancy.

Since last week, I have gone on the elliptical twice and power walked with the dogs twice.  I haven’t run yet.  The main reason for that is the weather and we don’t have a treadmill.  However, once we get that treadmill, I’m very excited to get going.  However, I have to say that I really enjoy the elliptical as well and I know it’s better on my knees.

How am I feeling right now?  Well in this moment I’m really exhausted.  But over the last few days I have had more energy, it’s just by 9pm, I’m ready to crash.  Multiple times my husband and I will put on a TV show to watch and I fall asleep immediately.  But this morning I woke up at 5am and was hungry, so I made breakfast and watched some TV, but then by 6AM I was super tired and crawled back into bed for a half hour and woke up even more super tired.  Maybe not the best plan to get up so early.  I feel like I’m not as emotional as I was last week.  Yay!  Last week I could have cried at a commercial on TV; this week I feel more in control of my emotions.

Time to talk about food!  My appetite returned last week and it was fantastic, but at the same time it totally caught me off guard.  I still don’t have the same love for food right now, but when something sounds good, I want it!  Like last Saturday I wanted a brownie sundae.  Gluten free brownie topped with So Delicious coconut milk ice cream.  Yes, please.

Breakfast:  I am still sticking to Cheerios, Rice Chex, or Ezekiel 4:9 toast with Tofutti and jelly.  I have also had organic eggs twice in the last week.  They sounded good and I went for it.

Lunch:  Soup, fruit, PB&J sandwiches, whole wheat pasta with Field Roast sausages and side salad, lentil stew.  I was having a lot of PB&J sandwiches for lunch at work last week.  They tasted great.

Dinner:  Quesadillas with rice, daiya, and beans / sesame tofu with sweet potato and greens / Chipotle (I think I’m over my black bean aversion) / Eggplant Parmesan with faux chicken / Amy’s vegan pizza

Snacks:  Dried fruit, oranges, cereal, apple sauce, fruit cups, bagels with peanut butter

Goodness I just got hungry writing out all that food.  Clearly my appetite is better.  I’m still steering clear of soy milk and my craving for salad comes and goes.

Basically I’m very much looking forward to my next appointment and then sharing the news!!!

My husband and I have been playing the name game.  Neither of us have any sort of idea as to whether it’s a boy or girl, but we do have names (almost) decided on for both.  So that’s good!  Although I was at thebump.com and there was a Chinese calendar that told me based on my age and month of conception that I was having a girl.  We’ll see if its right…

Ok, I’m hungry.  Time for some food.  Thanks for reading my ramblings!

  1. The Chinese calendar was wrong for me. It said boy! I think it's crazy how hungry you get when pregnant and even after when breastfeeding. Is it bad that I kind of miss that?!?! haha (clearly I love food. A lot.)
