Pregnancy Journey - 27 Weeks & Baby Shower!

Hey!

Today I am 27 weeks pregnant!  My belly is continuing to grow and grow.  I had my glucola test this morning and will get the results tomorrow.  My doctor told me that my iron levels are lower than they were at the beginning of my pregnancy.  Nothing severe, but I'm going to start taking an iron supplement today.  My appointments are now every two weeks!  Pregnancy is flying by.

I'm loving maternity tops and basically plan to live in them through the summer.  I've felt really good the last week.  My skin is the best its been and sleep has been pretty decent.  I still struggle with getting comfortable throughout the night, but that's to to expected.

Heart burn is my biggest negative symptom.  Sometimes propping myself up a bit when I try to go to sleep helps with that.  I had a massive headache on Sunday night, but I was out in the sun all day, so that could have been why.  It was really bad though.  It was the kind of headache where I had to climb into bed.  I couldn't open my eyes because the pain was so bad, but thankfully I slept through the night.  I woke up Monday morning still feeling the aftereffect of the horrible headache, but it had substantially subsided - thank goodness!

Saturday was our baby shower!  It was a wonderful shower and very special day, and I'm so thankful for all the people that people so much love and care into organizing it.  Thank you SO MUCH!  I really could never say thank you enough for the kindness from everyone.  We received so many gifts that will be so useful when baby boy comes into the world.

When I walked into my Aunt's house, the first thing I saw was the adorable cake that my mother-in-law provided.  I truly cannot get over how cute it was - and delicious!  We have an owl theme going for the baby's room.

The gifts looked too pretty to open!

My cousin gave us the piggy bank and I just love it!  I want to keep it in the baby's room (and as he grows up).  I think it will be fun to fill it up over the years.

My husband came at the end of the shower to help open a few gifts...

I'm really excited about the Pack 'N Play my parents gave us.  We were going to buy a bassinet for our bedroom so that the baby could sleep in our room at first, but now I think we're going to use the bassinet from the Pack 'N Play since we only plan on keeping him in our room for the first few months, or maybe we'll just use the Pack 'N Play upper level...

Question for moms or mommas-to-be:  Have you used the Pack 'N Play bassinet for this purpose?  I want to keep it next to the bed at first for our baby boy to sleep in.  Any thoughts on this?  Thanks for any advice you can offer!

My mom and mother-in-law are both wonderfully talented ladies at sewing.  My mom made the happiest looking owl quilt (above).  I can't wait to use it in the nursery.  I'm not sure if we're going to use it as a blanket or hang it on the wall yet.  She did an incredible job on it.  And my mother-in-law made the coziest baby blankets that I plan to keep in a basket next to the crib and probably some in the family room as well.  You can never have enough blankets and they are so cute and soft.

The food consisted of  wraps, salad, fruit salad, and of course cake - food heaven!  We are so lucky that the weather was perfect as well.  I can't wait to set up all the baby stuff in his room.  That is my biggest goal for the next few weeks and a very fun one.

These owls will be chilling in my car until baby boy comes.  They are just so happy looking.

Have a great week!

  1. Man, I just wrote up this comment and then it said I "didn't own that identify" and I'm like but that is me??? I don't have a pack and play, but did have the bassinet. I believe Ashley at neverhomemaker.com did and she would have a lot more thoughts about the pack and play.
