Sleep Deprived Mama

Hey hey hey!

Our little tiger.  Just looking at him makes my heart melt.  He's precious.

That's a really good thing because I'm lacking in the sleep department this weekend.  My baby boy had been giving me a 4-5 hour stretch of sleep at night for about a week and then he just took it away, no warning.  I've gotten a 3ish hour stretch the last two nights and it's left me feeling a little crazed...

Last night he slept 8:30-12:30 so I slept for a good chunk of that timeframe because I hold him in my arms after feeding for some time before putting him down (in the hopes that he will then stay sleeping).

Then, when Sage woke up to eat at 12:30, I thought for sure he'd go right back down after, but then he didn't.  I cried.  Not because I was sad, but because being that tired, I think it was the only thing my body knew to do, and at 1:30 I was struggling.  I woke my husband up just to get help with the diaper change and moral support.  Sometimes it's really necessary and I'm thankful for it.

Sage was so happy to see his parents.  Smiling and laughing!  Pure happiness in the middle of the night.  We couldn't help but laugh as he giggled and we yawned.

By 3:00 he did go back to sleep...and then back up at 5:00.  He's been feeding round the clock too.  He's the cutest little tiger with one tired mama, that's for sure.

Maybe we'll get some sleep tonight.  The little tiger will need his beauty sleep eventually, right?

Today will be filled with relaxation, lots of hot tea (I'll pretend there's caffeine in it giving me a boost), and quality time with my baby boy, hubby, and pups...oh, and maybe a nap or two.

Any advice for a sleep deprived mama?

What are you up to today?

  1. Aw sweetie! I'm so sorry you are lacking in the sleep department right now. Bless your heart. I wish there were something I could do. You have such a great hubby though to help out!

p.s. Sage really is the cutest little tiger :)

  2. Sorry it's hard. No great advice here, though I raised and nursed three, just.... know that you are a good mom, being so responsive to Sage's needs around the clock.

  3. Have you tried drinking coffee? It doesn't affect every baby, some are completely unphased by it. My midwife who will do my after-care (I am 37 weeks pregnant and in Germany you usually get yourself a midwife who will visit you regularly in the weeks following the birth) said that I should simply try to drink coffee or black/green tea and there wouldn't be a need to cut it out completely if the baby isn't affected by it. just a thought! It is so interesting to read all those stories knowing that this will be my life a few weeks down the road ;-)

Big virtual chocolate hug to get you through that growth spurt(?) your little guy might be having!
